This section is basically a LINK ARCHIVE of all of our favorite wads not made by us. Instead of wasting space and bandwith uploading them to our site we link you to them. We don't own the sites linked to and always provide info as to where the link is from.
This is a fun and nicely designed wad that I recommend you play if you already haven't. Link from www.gamers.org and www.olddoom.com
This is a nicely done wad with many converted graphics and good challening levels in my opinion. Link from www.gamers.com and www.olddoom.com
It's a very well designed wad based upon a good idea, but the difficulty can anger me at times. Link from www.gamers.org and olddoom.com
The below wads, images, and download links were found on doomworld.com's ten years of doom page celebrating dooms tenth anniversary. They are the ones who took these screenshots. (The descriptions are mine because I've played all of the listed wads and voiced my thoughts on their descriptions.) So for a list of all 100 wads (not just the ones I like.) Go to www.doomworld.com This is page is a link library basically, and much of this page relies on the hard work of Doomworld. Thank you Doomworld!
As you can tell I like old wads from Dooms earilier years when it was the biggest thing there was. It seems the creators goal was to prove that Dooms lighting was as capable of detail as Quakes. I personally think this is a great wad, and it was the first I ever downloaded and played so it's special to me. Download link from idgames archive.
This is a simple, but extremly fun wad from 1996. It has one decent sized map taking place in a mountain. Perhaps undetailed by todays standards, but is worth a look to all true Doom fans. Link from idgames archive.
A very detailed wad from 1997 even among todays standards in my opinion. It is incredibly detailed, but the gameplay seems to have been ignored. Either way worth a look. Link from idgames archive.
Another very detailed wad from the same guy as Phobos. The gameplay in this on is decent I think, but its really a matter of perspective. Link from idgames archive.
The darkening is a very impressive well made mega wad, that is definently worth a look. Download link from idgames archive.
As with all wads in this section, these are all wads I have played and enjoyed, and Equinox is one of the best. It has great graphic and sprite replacements, and stunning levels. I reccomend everyone play it. Download link from idgames archive.
Its crazy thats all I can say. Play it. Download link from idgames archive.
Massmouth 2 is such a well made unique wad it's basically a game of it's own. I highly recomend anyone who hasn't played it to do so immediantly.
MASSMOUTH 2 STAND ALONE:
This stand alone has everything you need to play MM2. The included files are:
1. massm2.wad
2. massm2.txt
3. doom2.wad (freedoom version of course.)
4. and most importantly zdoom-2.0.60 which is the only version of zdoom that can run MM2 glitch free. (thats right, no more getting stuck at the Texas Linguine Foundation!)
This stand alone was made to make playing Massmouth 2 easier, I do NOT claim to own Massmouth or to have contributed to it's creation in any way.
This is a GTA style sandbox mod filled to the brim with movie and video game references. I find it very amusing and fun to play.
USEFUL TIPS:
1. This has to be played using skulltag.
2. It is highly reccommended that you enable skulltags OpenGL capabilities so that certain effects will appear properly.
3. In the control options menu be sure to assign "Secondary fire" to your right mouse button. You need secondary fire to interact with things and to exit vehicles.
