DOSBox

DOSBox is the best way to run DOS games on XP, Vista, and 7. Now normally you have to mount drives and run exe's but In the dosbox download I have included the DOSShell frontend that runs dos box the easy way.

To use dosbox:

1. install dosbox

2. Install Dosshell

3. Now run the dosshell exe.

4. In dosshell go to preferences under edit in the tool bar and provide the directory to dosbox's exe. It should be here C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.72 Providing dosshell with dosboxes exe gives dosshell something to run games with.

5. Now in edit click add new entry. This means to add a game, now you need to have a dos game installed first (even if it doesn't run) and provide the name of the game, the group it's catagarized in, and the path to the exe that launches the game. Ignore description and icon if you want.

It should look like this.

Now hit ok, and there should be a icon to your game. Now clicking that icon launches the game and dosbox and does all of the mount directory stuff on its own. And there you go have fun.

If this wasn't very helpful read the official tutorial at wikipedia HERE
